It’s a big headache having to deal with bad neighbours. It’s a nightmare to buy a house and then realize you have got some bad neighbours. But there is good news for you. With the correct approach, you can turn the situation into your advantage and a positive one by building a good relationship with them.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN BUILD A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP

First of all, make sure you are not acting as the bad neighbour. Check your noise level like TV, Music etc. Your noise level shouldn’t be disturbing the neighbourhood’s peace. Then check whether your pets are controlled and nurtured in a proper manner so they aren’t threatening or roaming wildly in the neighbourhood. Do also check whether you keep things tidy around your property. See if your garden is well maintained and you don’t litter things around your property which could be nuisance or health hazard to neighbours. Also how well you maintain your property matters since neighbours will be worried about poorly maintained house ruining the value of their respective properties. Finally do not let any of your trees or fences or any part of your property intrude on a neighbour’s property line. Keep in mind the boundary line.

DEVELOP A FRIENDLY RELATIONSHIP

Take time and introduce yourself to create a good first impression. Have a friendly face and a friendly approach. Also do make it a point to always keep your neighbours well in advance anytime you are hosting an event or doing a renovation. This will create a pleasant impression about you among your neighbourhood.

BE EMPHATHETIC TOWARDS YOUR NEIGHBOUR

If you are bothered by any of your neighbour’s activities, do first approach them in a pleasant and friendly manner and have a quiet chat about the issue or if its bit problematic than it seems, do invite your neighbour for a coffee or dinner to your house and inform them about the issue that’s problematic to you so they will not misunderstand while getting to know that it is a big deal to you. Vice versa respond to any complaints from your neighbours the way you would like them to respond to yours. Be gentle and accommodating

AVOID SITUATIONS THAT MIGHT BE LIKELY TO CAUSE TENSION

Try and avoid buying properties with shared driveways and properties where hoarders live. Even try and avoid buying properties in a questionable neighbourhood even though you might get your dream property at the correct price and facilities you wished for.
