Have you dreamed of owning a house with a swimming pool. With the rising temperature and the busy schedule, having a pool in your home is a lucrative option to cool yourself and to have fun during weekends with your family and friends.

But there are couple of things you need to be concerned about before you dive in.

YOUR LIFESTYLE

If you are having a family and taking your kids to practices and classes on evenings and weekends with some long-distance holidays during school vacations, then having a pool wont make much sense because you might not be using it much. But on the other hand if you spend a lot of time at home with your family during weekends, then the pool could be used as a time to bond with your family.

THE SIZE & TYPE OF POOL

Here you should be concerned whether the swimming pool could accommodate your family and friends and whether it is a traditional chlorine sanitization system or a saltwater pool for easier maintenance. It costs much more to replace  pool than to build one. So be mindful of these factors when buying a house with a pool so you could adjust your expectations to manage with the pool you get or to find a home with the exact pool that suits your requirements.

COSTS INVOLVED

Alas the fun and freedom of owning a pool doesn’t come cheap. A swimming pool can cost a lot of money between cleaning, maintenance and repairs based on the size, type and the equipment used. While a pool could enhance the value of your house, not everyone would be interested in buying one due to the costs factors involved.

TIME & MONEY

Another valuable point would be the time you spend enjoying and the time you spend cleaning the pool; whether is it worthwhile owning a pool. Your weekly chores will include skimming out debris and dirt,  scrubbing the pool floors and wall, cleaning the strainer basket, vacuuming the pool etc.  Also could you do it all by yourself or need to hire a professional to take care which brings the cot factor into consideration.

SAFETY

Finally the oblivious question would be whether is it safe for you and family to own a pool? As the house owner you are held liable for any injuries that occur in and around the pool. Children and pets are to be protected from facing any mishaps with the pool. Are you having all the relevant safety measures?
